With the love and affection of the inhabitants of town Pulwama and with the grace of the Almighty, I am taking pride in mentioning that I am serving the most famous and beautiful town in J&K, as President of the Municipal Council. We are committed to working for the people of Pulwama, their all-around development, and prosperity. And we assure you that all our Councillors, Officers, and Employees will work hand in hand to fulfil this mission. We will strive to work hard to provide you transparency in the functioning of the Municipal Council and improve the civic amenities of the town.
We will continue to realize the vision of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of J&K by providing sustainable urban development, and municipal services, and ensuring proper implementation of central missions on urban development.
We know that the wishes are beautiful but we believe that fulfilling them is more beautiful so I urge all the people of Pulwama town to join the Municipal Council Pulwama in its resolve to make Town the most livable and lovable town in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the J&K Municipal Act 2000, the Municipal Council/Committee is mandated to perform the following duties:

• Preparation of plans for economic development and social justice
• Preparation of plans for economic development and social justice
• Performance of functions and implementation of the schemes, which may be entrusted including:-
  1. Urban Planning
  2. Regulation of land – use and construction of Buildings
  3. Public Heath, Sanitation, Conservancy and Solid Waste Management
  4. Urban Forestry, Protection of Environment and promotion of ecological aspects
  5. Safeguarding interests of weaker sections of the society
  6. Slum improvement and up-gradation
  7. Provisions of Urban amenities and facilities such as parks, play grounds and gardens
  8. Promotion of cultural, Educational and aesthetic aspects
  9. Urban poverty alleviation
  10. Vital Statistics including registration of Births, Deaths
  11. Planning for economic and social development
  12. Regulation of slaughter houses and tanneries
  13. Regulation of amenities including street lighting, parking lots, Bus stops and public conveniences
